TOLGAR (Chicago)
An ardent musician from an early age: playing several instruments varying from mandolin to drums; participating in marching band to rock band – Tolgar’s history clearly depicts an amalgamation of musical sensibilities and his desire to share with others the music that he loves: breaks. Writing and performing freestyle as a hip-hop MC in New York was his introduction to electronic music. Afterwards, it extended into funky breaks and jump-up jungle while in Florida. Encountering artists like DJ Icey, Baby Anne, Huda Hudia, Rick West, DJ Trixie etc. and befriending many other DJs along the way, he was inspired to spin and began practicing on his friends’ turntables. By 2000, Tolgar was back in Chicago practicing on turntables of his own, spinning all forms of breaks: from funky to nu-skool, as well as spinning drum ‘n’ bass, tech-step and jump-up jungle. Over time, breaks became his main focus. Breaks, rather an obscure genre of electronic music, was sparsely showcased in Chicago. Motivated by its absence, Tolgar and his friend and fellow DJ JohnEVolution decided to promote it by launching Recess at Katacomb in the summer of 2002. Together with John and Marcel, Tolgar retained a monthly residency at Katacomb until they joined Chris Gin and Localsound’s weekly party Hard Candy at Big Wig (now known as Four), as a monthly breaks event. In 2004, Tolgar left Recess to pursue his own event promotion/digital label company Base10 with the initial focus to cultivate an enjoyable environment in which to exhibit breaks. Teaming up with Local Hero, Base10 was invited by Bass by the Pound to run a monthly breaks party (every 2nd Friday) at Lava Lounge called Algorhythm. One of their most recent guests, Smithmonger, a breaks DJ and producer from the U.K. stated, “Chicago is in good hands. Their breaks and electro house scene needs this dude at the controls.” In addition to promoting others, Tolgar’s own reputation as a DJ has grown. He has opened up for the likes of U.N.K.L.E., Adam Freeland, Hybrid, Stanton Warriors, Smithmonger, DJ Monk, DJ Icey, 30Hz, The Crystal Method, Meat Katie, Dylan Rhymes, Hyper, and Santiago & Bushido; headlined in Seattle at The Spot (Pleasuretown); that same year was ranked the 42nd breakbeat DJ on www.thedjlist.com; continues his worldwide reach and is presently collaborating a live PA production project with several artists.
ALEX FINO (Nashville)
It’s no surprise Alex Fino is a DJ and producer. Having picked up his first instrument, a guitar, at age thirteen, music has always played a very large role in his life. Growing up in Mexico, Alex absorbed all the provocative and alluring sounds of the region. That deep-rooted influence is heard today in both his productions and live sets.
At eighteen, Alex left Mexico to attend college in Los Angeles. It was during his time in Southern California that Alex joined a band, began to hone his skills as a performer and developed a general love for stirring a crowd and thrilling audiences. While attending college, his band performed throughout California at well -known venues including Whiskey a Go Go, Roxy, Viper Room and local universities. It is also during this time that Alex was introduced to the world of electronic music at a variety of venues, including weekly staple events like Marques Wyatt’s “Does Your Mama Know” and “Deep”, super clubs like Spundae, and Giant and rave events all over the Los Angeles area.
Alex began DJing over twelve years ago and has never looked back. He has performed for audiences in South Africa, London, Tokyo, New York, Los Angeles and everywhere in between. From the late 1990’s to 2008, Alex held residencies throughout Los Angeles, including Dragon Bar, Shane, Republic and Cruz Room.
Alex met his production partner Gabriel D Vine at one such event, and together they began producing House music under the moniker “Monkey Bars”. Monkey Bars has seen a tremendous success, releasing tracks on many major House labels – Subliminal Records, Om, Moonshine, Warner Brothers and more recently Slip’N’Slide, and Delecto. Coming soon Monkey Bars will add Gossip Records. to that distinguished list. Monkey Bars tracks have received considerable support from a diverse group of fellow DJs and producers, including: Erick Morillo, Mark Farina, Seb Fontaine, Steve Lawler, Pete Tong, D. Ramirez and Christian Alvarez. Additionally, Monkey Bars have produced music for TV and film.
Whether it’s Funky, Jackin or at times Disco beats chugging beneath his whimsical, rich melodies, Alex Fino never fails to conjure a seductive sound. Physical beats meld with dense harmonies and musical layers of jazz, rock, disco, funk, samba, and there’s always a surprise. With his proficient musicianship bolstered by raw innate talent, Alex Fino shines in the DJ booth. His taste is unparalleled, his technique flawless, and his energy irresistible.
While many artists have lost sight of what it means to have fun with music in clubs, Alex Fino brings the playground to the floor and even the adults out there will be taken to a magical place of musical rapture.

DIRTY BUS
Level13 / Breakfast Club / Dirty Bus
Jeff Hopkins from St. Louis, Missouri was introduced to the electronic music scene in 1990 when he became a regular at 1227, a club which was located on Washington Ave. in St. Louis, MO. His passion for electronic music continued to grow through the nineties and into the millennium. In 2000 he started throwing parties in his home and on the 23rd floor of the Laclede Gas building in downtown St. Louis. These were historic parties that club goers will never forget. Positive reinforcement and a magnetic influence was all it took for Jeff to purchase his first dj equipment in 2001. It was dj’ing where Jeff found his true passion and began expressing himself in a profound way. He was able to learn the basics by watching local and national dj’s work their magic in the booth. Many local and national dj’s introduced Jeff to deep, dark house, the roots of Jeff’s ever growing style. Within a year, Jeff earned residencies at two of St. Louis’ top clubs. Velocity Promotional Group picked up Jeff in 2002 and then he went on to work with La La Land Entertainment before venturing out on his own in 2004. To date DJ Jeff Hopkins has had many successful residencies including The Living Room, Velvet, The Havanah Lounge, Novaks, Faces, Martini Room, Rue 13, The Drunken Fish, Sub Zero, Dantes, Kyo, Mollys, Ten14, Xes, Throttle as well as hundreds of local and out of state parties. In 2004 Jeff was the featured DJ on “The Electric X”, a live radio show on 94x in Memphis, TN. In 2005 Jeff was honored with an invitation to open for Oscar G at Velvet on the club’s last open night after a highly successful 10 year run. Jeff Hopkins style has often been compared to DJ’s Steve Lawler, D:Fuse, Thickdick, and Oscar G, who have all been influential in Jeff’s music career. His unique style of dirty, electro, tribal, progressive & Tech house continues to evolve. His live energetic sets always captivate the crowds no matter where he is playing!!
Kevin “Ready” Wilson
St. Louis, MO
(Foundation, Fifty Foot Robots)
Kevin Wilson aka DJ Ready has been involved with music most of his life. Starting off as a drummer at the age of 10, he started learning music structure and rhythm. It wasn’t until he graduated high school in 2001 that he would start attending raves and becoming more involved in the Electronic Music Scene. Quickly drawn to the sounds of dance music, he picked up a pair of cheap turntables and started learning to mix dance music.
After a few years of DJing, Kevin took an opportunity to learn more about the productive side of music. He moved to Miami in 2003 to attend school at SAE (School of Audio Engineering, http://sae.edu). He quickly learned the arts of recording, editing, and mixing down. He also learned programs like Reason, Pro-Tools, Cubase and Ableton Live for his own production projects.
After completing the Audio Engineering program at SAE, Kevin received his Audio Engineering Diploma and returned home to St. Louis. He quickly busted on to the St. Louis nightlife scene with a residency at the U Lounge and thanks in large part to B&W Productions opened up for international talents such as Q-Burns, George Acosta, Lee Coombs, Gabriel & Dresden, Satoshi Tomiie, Bassnectar, Micro, Eoto, Stanton Warriors, and much much more. He has also added regular appearances at pretty much every venue in St. Louis that promotes and pushes electronic dance music including the late great club Velvet as early as the age of 19. As well as DJing, Kevin continued to work in the studio as an engineer and a producer for his own work. He was doing audio engineering gigs for Basement Beats (JE and Wally) in Nellys Lake St. Louis studio conducting recording sessions and editing hip-hop tracks. He received his first album credit for a recording session on Avery Storms debut album entitled Shotgun Love.
Recently, Kevin was a co-host with Josh Sedivy (Narcosis) on one of the hottest break beat internet radio stations in the world. They hosted Fractured Breaks on Sundays from 6-8pm on http://ibreaks.co.uk. Monthly they averaged close to 4000 downloads worldwide per month. As well as hosting a radio show, Kevin spends his time working on producing and remixing music. With nearly a decade of DJing and promoting under his belt, Kevin is working as the front man of his own Foundation label and also works with Fifty Foot Robots Productions to deliver some of the best events and parties for the St. Louis Scene.
