Zedd “Dovregubben”...

Today’s Song of the Day the new single from Zedd, “Dovregubben”. “Dovregubben” is an electro house track inspired by Edward Grieg’s highly recognizable classical composition “Peer Gynt, In the Hall of the Mountain King”. The young German DJ/Producer got his break in 2009 winning back to back Beatport remix contests then moving on to quickly gain more notoriety with his remix of Skrillex’s “Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites”. Now Zedd is on the rise with the release of “Dovregubben” and his remix of Swedish House Mafia’s “Save the World” (a huge improvement over the original IMHO). It’s good to see some new young talent out there and it’s a safe bet that Zedd will be around awhile. Take a listen to “Dovregubben” and if you like it click on the iTunes link to add it to your playlist. Have a great weekend! Nadia Ali, Starkillers & Alex Kenji “Pressure” (Alesso Remix)...

Today’s song is produced by something akin to a mini super group of Electronic Dance Music artists. The song’s musical pedigree comes from DJ/Producers Nic Terranova aka Starkillers, and Alessandro Bacci aka Alex Kenji. These two are well respected producers and DJs who are both on the cusp of becoming household names. I hear both of their influences on today’s song “Pressure”. The track is not complete though until you add the sensuous and delicate vocals of Nadia Ali. The original mix of the song has a nice thumping House beat and is a standard club anthem (Check it out HERE). However it really isn’t quite finished unitl it is given a final coat by 18 year old Swedish DJ/Producer Alesso . This talented wunderkind has been gaining massive amounts of attention after his track “Nillioniare” was played by the Swedish House Mafia during their recent tour. He has since been signed to SHM’s Sebastian Ingrosso’s label Refune. If you listen to the Original Mix then the Alesso remix you can hear what he has done to the song by adding emotional tension. In the remix when Nadia Ali sings ” So much pressure, So much heat, So much hassle, They want me” you can FEEL the bit of anguish in her vocals. It is just not as apparent in the original mix and the track is just bigger and better under Alesso’s manipulation. Keep an eye out for him in the future. Take a listen and please leave a comment. Swedish House Mafia “Miami 2 Ibiza”...

“Oh my goodness, Oh my goodness man”… That was my first reaction to hearing “Miami 2 Ibiza” the latest from the Swedish House Mafia. This dance music supergroup is obviously on track to dominate the international dance scene with their power anthems. I am almost afraid to include the instrumental version of this track because after my mention of their last mega anthem “One” (on this very blog), two months later they released a version of “One” with amazing vocals from Pharrell. Even if the vocals for “One” were added after the initial track’s release they felt like they were there all along. While I have not been able to determine if that will be the case this time, it really doesn’t matter because damn this tack hits… Hard! If you haven’t heard this at your local dance club you will soon. Enjoy and of course tell em you heard it first here. 🙂 Miami 2 Ibiza – Single – Swedish House Mafia & Tinie...

Swedish House Mafia “One”...

There are very few supergroups in the world of electronic dance music but the Swedish House Mafia is here to end that. The Swedish House Mafia is a group of three house DJs and producers: Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso (all Swedish of course). Any one of these three have churned out hits under their own banner but as a group their first track (released at WMC) has been growing rapidly in popularity. Take a listen and if you like it, buy it. Swedish House Mafia – One (Radio Edit) by officialswedishhousemafia Swedish House Mafia “One” is available on...
