Björk “Crystalline”...

Today’s Song of the Day “Crystalline” is from Icelandic singer-songwriter Björk. “Crystalline” is the second single from her soon-to-be-released seventh album “Biophilia” (dropping sometime in September). The song is a return to form for Björk who has been away from the music scene for at least four years now. If you are a fan this is great news because quite frankly she has been AWOL both artistically and physically for far too long (arguably since her 2001 album “Vespertine”). If you are new to Björk you might need to check out some of her back catalog including the classic “Post” (1995), and “Homogenic” (1997). This will give you a good sense of how she has been able bend genres and create new musical art forms. It will also become easy to hear how she has influenced ta new generation of female singers on both sides of the Atlantic. Take a listen to “Crystalline” and leave a comment below if you like it or hate it. All feedback is appreciated. If you absolutely LOVE the song add it to your playlist today with a click on the iTunes link. Thanks for reading! Crystalline – Single –...

Zedd “Dovregubben”...

Today’s Song of the Day the new single from Zedd, “Dovregubben”. “Dovregubben” is an electro house track inspired by Edward Grieg’s highly recognizable classical composition “Peer Gynt, In the Hall of the Mountain King”. The young German DJ/Producer got his break in 2009 winning back to back Beatport remix contests then moving on to quickly gain more notoriety with his remix of Skrillex’s “Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites”. Now Zedd is on the rise with the release of “Dovregubben” and his remix of Swedish House Mafia’s “Save the World” (a huge improvement over the original IMHO). It’s good to see some new young talent out there and it’s a safe bet that Zedd will be around awhile. Take a listen to “Dovregubben” and if you like it click on the iTunes link to add it to your playlist. Have a great weekend! Wynter Gordon “Don’t Stop Me”...

The phrase “one to watch” is so overused today that in some ways it means the exact opposite where often “the one to watch” is usually the one to avoid. Today’s Song of the Day is an exception to that oh so jaded rule. “Don’t Stop Me” Is the debut single from singer/songwriter Wynter Gordon’s newly released EP “With the Music I Die”. Wynter has been involved in the music business since 2004 but it wasn’t until last year’s breakthrough hit “Dirty Talk” that she has finally come into her own. The song was embraced by the Electronic Dance Music scene and “Dirty Talk” was remixed by top talent like Laidback Luke and Kim Fai. The song even earned her a couple of nominations at the 2011 International Dance Music Awards. If Wynter can find her own style and voice (and avoid any comparisons to pop divas) she will indeed be around for a while and you can say you heard about her here first. Take a listen to “Don’t Stop Me” and if you like it, click the iTunes link to buy it. With the Music I Die – EP – Wynter...

David Guetta feat. Taio Cruz and Ludacris “Little Bad Girl”...

What an interesting past few years it’s been for French producer David Guetta. His career has steadily been on the rise with two successful back to back albums, 2007’s “Pop Life” and 2009’s “One Love”. However Mr. Guetta has also inexplicably become the target of critics who claim that he has “sold out” Electronic Dance Music by catering to the mainstream. These critics even go as far as claiming he is ruining the genre. I am just not sure where all of this is coming from because he hasn’t really changed his style of music very much over the last few years, it’s been very consistent and recognizable. Perhaps it’s because of the impressive roster of Pop Music artist he has worked with including Rhianna, Will.I.Am, Kid Cudi, The Black Eyed Peas, Flor-I-Da, and Akon (to name a few)? Who knows and frankly, who cares! The fact is that “sell out” or not tracks like “Little Bad Girl” are just good songs. It’s an infectious and easy to dance to song and you better believe it will get some major dance floor rotation. Don’t take my word for it though have a listen and let me know what you think. Allure feat. Jes “Show Me The Way” (TwisteDDisko remix)...

It’s easy to think perhaps that Dance Music is purely male dominated and while that may not be entirely true there is certainly a lack of female artists within the genre. However If I was pressed to name one Queen of Dance Music I would certainly have to include Jes as a front runner! Jes Brieden (aka JES) is a New York City based singer/producer who has racked up some dance floor classics collaborating with artists Gabriel & Dresden, Tiësto, and D:Fuse to name a few. Last week she released her fourth studio album “Unleash the Beat” a collection of remixes of older songs with a few new ones added in. One of the standout tracks on “Unleash the Beat” is her collaboration with Tiësto (Under the name Allure) “Show Me The Way”. This song was amazing in it’s original form but the TwisteDDisko remix has given the tune a nice spit polish. Take a listen to “Show me the Way” and click on the iTunes link to sample the rest of “Unleash the Beat”. We are confident you will want to add it to your playlist. Enjoy! Unleash the Beat –...
