Song of the Day: Zoot Woman – "Just A Friend of Mine"
Zoot Woman established themselves early on as an electroclash force to be reckoned with. The band includes Adam and Johnny Blake and Stuart Price, who most may know as the driving force behind Madonna’s Confessions on a Dancefloor album. Price and Adam Blake are also known as Paper Faces who scorched with remix of Felix Da Housecat, Scissor Sisters, Armand Van Helden, and Madonna’s “Let It Will Be”. Zoot Woman’s 2009 album, Things Are What They Used To Be, features singles like “We Won’t Break” (a rework of their 2007 single) and “Memory”. It also included this energetic gem, “Just A Friend Of Mine”. Melody runs rampant over the track, earning the genre application of “synthpop”. Zoot Woman’s male singer and indie swagger will allow this track to appeal to the mainstream naysayers and hipsters alike, while a shockingly loyal yet seductively aggressive remix by Chris Fraser will allow the track some room on your floors.
