Party Doesn’t Necessarily Mean PARTY!.

I know I’ve said it before, but I have a great job. I mean, not everyone gets to go play in adult playgrounds for a living. (Not that I’m successfully making a living – photographer for hire, just for the record…) But even though I get to work where others play does not mean every night is a fun filled sexual orgy. (Well, in point of fact, I’ve never been to a fun filled sexual orgy, although the Playboy Bash during All Star Week was pretty damn close.) But you know what I mean, if you tone down the hyperbole.

And yet, every once in a while, when someone isn’t splashing beer on your equipment, you accidentally discover that you are having a kick ass time while working.

Friday was just such a night.

Felix Cartal at Sol Lounge was by far and away one of the better parties I’ve been to in a while. Sol, and the geniuses behind the venture, brought in special lights to add to the mood of the all star DJ. The crowd was chill, relaxed and fun. I saw people I knew. I met new people. I had a blast. It’s actually a rare thing for me to last til closing. I’ll do it if I need to get the photos…but most often, I take off around one or two AM. The door guy was screaming the classic “You don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here.” line as I finally departed.

I met Cartal personally. I got to hang out with some wonderful friends. I saw some…um…creative dancing. And best of all, I took pictures that excite me. Now, I know, I’ve said it before. I have a great job. But that doesn’t mean I walk away from every assignment a-tingle with anticipation at revealing my “art”. Happily, Friday, I scored some photos, with the help of the incredible lighting, that made me excited to take photos.

So…with that set up…let’s get to the pics.

Come on…you gotta admit. Those lights, and photographs, are kick ass. It’s ok. You can say it. I already know. Go ahead. Ohhhh…go ahead. You know you want to….
