Song of the Day: Zedd “Dovregubben”

Today’s Song of the Day the new single from Zedd, “Dovregubben”. “Dovregubben” is an electro house track inspired by Edward Grieg’s highly recognizable classical composition “Peer Gynt, In the Hall of the Mountain King”. The young German DJ/Producer got his break in 2009 winning back to back Beatport remix contests then moving on to quickly gain more notoriety with his remix of Skrillex’s “Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites”. Now Zedd is on the rise with the release of “Dovregubben” and his remix of Swedish House Mafia’s “Save the World” (a huge improvement over the original IMHO). It’s good to see some new young talent out there and it’s a safe bet that Zedd will be around awhile. Song of the Day: Skrillex “First of the Year (Equinox)”

Today’s Song of the Day comes from arguably the most recognizable name within the Dubstep genre of electronic music, Skrillex. Skrillex (aka Sonny Moore) is a LA based musician/producer who was also the front man of the band From First to Last. Skrillex gained worldwide attention after the release of his 2010 EP “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites”. Now he’s back with his third EP “More Monsters and Sprites” which contains 3 new tracks and several remixes. The first track on the new EP “First of the Year (Equinox)” is a grinding, growling, pounding mix of bass, blips, and samples. If you have never listened to Dubstep before let me tell you it’s darker and more raw than anything else you might have heard before.
