Today’s Song of the Day is not really just about the song but more about the (brand new) album “Electroman”. “Electroman” is the fifth album from Italian DJ and producer Benny Benassi. Benassi is no stranger to this site, we have featured his work over the years and with that being said if you only buy a few full length albums a year, you must add “Electroman” to your collection! The fourteen (14) plus tracks contain several singles Benassi has released over the last year or so including the hits “Spaceship” and “Beautiful People”.

This album marks a significant point in time for Electronic Dance Music (EDM), it’s the point to where it transitioned to the mainstream. While the list of guest vocalists on “Electroman” are impressive, none of them overwhelm Benassi’s trademark thump. That’s an important note because this is not a “sellout” album in the slightest, if anything it is clear Pop Music has bowed down to Electronic Dance Music in a major way. The title track is a perfect example of this because while T-Pain’s voice is instantly recognizable so is the fact that it’s a Benassi song. Check it out and please feel free to add a comment.

Once and awhile you get one, an earworm. A song or sound that just seems stuck in your subconscious. You hear said song everywhere, often at the most random moments. Today’s Song of the Day is my earworm and I have been very hard pressed to get this song out of my head. It’s the delicate and throbbing “Song for Lisa” by North Ireland electronic group, The Japanese Popstars. This particular version was remixed by Italian DJ and producer Benny Bennasi and released back in February. The tracks delicate vocals matched with Benassi’s trademark 4/4 thump really transform this tune into something very special. As always though don’t take my word for it, take a listen.

Summer is definitely here and you can tell by just taking a listen to the radio or your favorite dance spot because everyone is rolling out what they hope will be the song that defines the season. One contender recently let out of the gate is the latest from Italian producer and Electro house DJ Benny Benassi. If the name sounds familiar it’s probably because you remember his oh so classic 2003 release “Satisfaction” (check it out here). Benassi’s soon to be new released album is definitely eagerly awaited and if the first single “Spaceship” is any indication of what he has in store, watch out! This might be the year Benassi goes massive! Today I am going to focus on one of the many great remixes of “Spaceship” the sublime EDX Dubai Skyline Remix which masterfully smooths out the harder edges to create a more mellow vocal based version of the track. I really, really like this and it’s a good choice for something more upbeat during those rough commutes. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Adam K and Soha are one of the premiere remix artist teams out there. The list of hits they have disassembled and recreated is long. Some of my favorites include the oh so classic remixes of Kaskade’s “4AM”, and Benny Benassi’s “Come Fly Away”. These two seem to infuse a jazzy mellow vibe into the songs that is melodic but with enough punch to still groove to on the dance floor.
