Adam K and Soha are one of the premiere remix artist teams out there. The list of hits they have disassembled and recreated is long. Some of my favorites include the oh so classic remixes of Kaskade’s “4AM”, and Benny Benassi’s “Come Fly Away”. These two seem to infuse a jazzy mellow vibe into the songs that is melodic but with enough punch to still groove to on the dance floor. Their latest and greatest remix is of the already classic “Loneliness” by Tomcraft. Check it out…

Kaskade

Well a few weeks ago I wrote about some of the more vital songs of 2009. Well there was the glaring omission of the artist/DJ Kaskade (aka Ryan Raddon) whose 2008 album “Strobelight Seduction” was still pumping out a few hits well into 2009 so on a technicality I thought it was fair to leave him of the list. Some of you might think I don’t know what I am talking about because I could have mentioned his fantastic remix album “The Grand” which was released in ‘09. That would be a fair criticism, but in my honest opinion while a good remix album for sure, the only really standout track was “Angel On My Shoulder (EDX`s Belo Horizonte At Night Remix)” and since that and most of the other tracks were reworkings of “Strobelight” cuts, I left it out of consideration as one of the best of 2009.

In terms of popularity there is no doubt that 2009 was a banner year for Kaskade whose increased visibility put him at the top of the list in many minds as one of the best out there in the EDM scene. Kaskade also toured a LOT (although he is overdue a stop here) and was all over the web promoting himself and his gigs. He is currently in the studio now working on his next album and I for one know I will be buying it day of release. In the meantime here is his latest track a remix of the song “So Far Away” (featuring Haley). Enjoy!

The Best of 2009 – Part 2

Early in 2009 I heard the dub of the Deadmau5 (aka Joel Zimmerman) track “Ghosts n Stuff”, it was like a lot of the music off his early ‘09 release “It Sounds Like”… Just OK (One notable exception being “Faxing Berlin”). It was a bit disappointing as he was just coming off a huge collaboration with Kaskade on the track “Move for Me” (Another Best of 2009 Track for sure) and I was looking for more from the Mau. Flash forward to September and boy what a difference a few months can make. For the first single off “For Lack of a Better Name” (a compilation album) the Mau collaborates with Pendulum’s Rob Swire and adds the missing vocals to “Ghosts n Stuff”. Whoa! Play this track in a club and the crowd goes nuts, sing – a-long city! “Ghosts n Stuff” is definitely one of the best dance tracks of 2009.
