Before you think I have gone off my diet I have to tell you this damn song is unbelievably catchy! The “Bed Intruder Song” uses footage from an interview with Huntsville, AL resident Antoine Dodson. Back in July Antoine’s sister Kelly was assaulted in her bedroom by an intruder. Antoine hearing his sister’s screams rushed up to fight off the attacker. The police and local news were on the scene later and a still very upset Antoine gave an impromptu interview. The footage from that interview became an internet sensation quickly making Antoine an overnight sensation. You can view the footage from that interview HERE.
Roughly a month later the Gregory Brothers (the group behind Auto Tune the News) reworked the footage into today’s snazzy little tune. The song become so popular that it has outsold many established artists on iTunes. I apologize in advance if you find yourself singing this through out the day… It’s just that catchy! Afrojack, aka Nick van de Wall is a Dutch DJ from Spijkenisse who burst on to the dance music scene in 2007. Afrojack soon became considered as a genius producer and embarked on a series of collaborations with international artists such as David Guetta, Diplo, Kid Cudi, Laidback Luke and Steve Angelo to name but a few. He scored his first hit in 2008 with the track Drop down (do my dance) together with The Partysquad. “Oh my goodness, Oh my goodness man”… That was my first reaction to hearing “Miami 2 Ibiza” the latest from the Swedish House Mafia. This dance music supergroup is obviously on track to dominate the international dance scene with their power anthems. I am almost afraid to include the instrumental version of this track because after my mention of their last mega anthem “One” (on this very blog), two months later they released a version of “One” with amazing vocals from Pharrell. Even if the vocals for “One” were added after the initial track’s release they felt like they were there all along. While I have not been able to determine if that will be the case this time, it really doesn’t matter because damn this tack hits… Hard!
