Song of the Day: Kaskade feat. Dragonette "Fire In Your New Shoes"

April 27, 2010 in Song of the Day by SceneSTL

In honor of today’s release of “Dynasty” the eagerly awaited new album by Kaskade, I thought I would pump you all up with the second single. “Fire In Your New Shoes” is a collaboration with Canadian electropop/New Wave/Synthpop group Dragonette. It’s a bit of an edgier sound from Kaskade and needless to say, we like it! Take a listen and as always we encourage “likes” and comments!

Song of the Day: Joan Reyes "Shakedown" (Bass Kleph Remix)

April 26, 2010 in Song of the Day by SceneSTL

Today’s song is from a fresh face to the dance music scene. 22 year old Joan Reyes is a self taught musician and DJ from Barcelona Spain. He has recently gained quite a bit of attention from the veteran EDM dance mavens, Paul Oakenfeld, and AFTC. Reyes has also worked his way around the Barcelona, Miami, and New York club circuit and had a few sets at this years WMC. With tracks like “Shakedown” you had better keep an eye out for Joan Reyes in 2010.

Song of the Day: Dresden & Johnston "Keep Faith" (Morgan Page Remix)

April 21, 2010 in Song of the Day by SceneSTL

There are times when you get a lot of talent together on a track and it works out amazingly well (ex. Wolgang Gartner remix of Tiesto & Sneaky Sound System’s “I Will Be Here”) and times when you wonder… Well Dresden & Johnston’s “Keep Faith” is a solid club anthem and the Morgan Page remix just adds an extra polish to the song giving it massive club appeal.

You might know Dave Dresden from one of his many groups like Gabriel & Dresden, and Motorcycle.
Mikael Johnston is maybe not as recognizable but has large remix credentials including reworking tracks for Jane’s Addiction, and Soul Coughing. Beyond remixing these two are songwriters in their own right and their talent shines with “Keep Faith”. My guess would be that this song will not only be a huge club anthem in 2010 but it might also work its way into classic status as well. Let me know what you think.

Thanks to Ariana for helping me find this one.

Song of the Day: Chocolate Puma Feat. Colonel Red "Back Home"

April 20, 2010 in Song of the Day by SceneSTL

Gaston Steenkist (“Dobre”) and René Horst (“DJ Zki”) AKA Chocolate Puma are a duo of House Music Producers From the Netherlands. Theses two have playfully used many names in the credits of their dance floor hits over their decades long career. These names include Mechanical Soul Saloon, F-action, Basco, DJ Manta, DJ Zki & Dobre, and a half dozen more. Thankfully the duo have seemed to have gravitated more toward Chocolate Puma, while at the same time have hit their creative stride. This year will be massive for these two so keep an ear out for their tracks at the clubs.

Their latest track is HOT of the presses which means that unfortunately you can’t buy it just yet, however you can listen to it here first. Yay! Let me know what you think!
